Our Founders
Nathan Waddell
Nathan has had a love and enthusiasm for military and civil aircraft of all types since his earliest years of childhood when his grandfather would take him flying in his vintage ERCO Ercoupe.
In his teens Nathan was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol, the civilian auxiliary to the United States Air Force, where he focused on Search and Rescue. He attended Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland, Oregon majoring in Aviation Studies.
Nathan is a military veteran having served in both the Oregon Army National Guard and on active duty with the US Army’s 3rd US Infantry Regiment “The Old Guard” at Ft. Myer in Arlington, VA.
Nathan’s interests cover more than just aviation, for several years he was an active American Civil War reenactor with Company ‘H’, 4th Texas Volunteer Infantry, a member unit of the Northwest Civil War Council portraying the role of a private soldier in the Confederate Army.
Military history and specifically the World War Two era (1939-1945) hold the most interest for Nathan and are the focus of most of his reading and self-study. From the infantry soldier in his foxhole to Marines wading through surf to the crews of u-boats and B-17 Bombers and the aces in F6F Hellcats and Bf-109s – tales of hardship, service, camaraderie and courage intrigue, fascinate and entertain him thoroughly.
Nathan’s absolute favorite aircraft is the North American Aviation P-51D Mustang with the Lockheed Martin/Boeing F-22 Raptor ranking a very close second.
Nathan loves to draw and is the hand behind many of Flightline Fabrications’ original products.
